Historic/Cultural – Sword and Buckler

The buckler, traditionally a defensive sidearm for archers, traces its history back to the 11 th or 12 th century as a dueling weapon. We will look at both Medieval and Renaissance versions of this form.

Historic/Cultural – Renaissance Grappling

Grappling, or “Ringen” in Renaissance German, was a core skill for any warrior. Methods date back to the ancient Roman and Greek civilizations, and were the core of the original Olympic games. Most of the Renaissance system invoved redirection of force and taking someonedown to the ground. Be prepared to get on the floor (we will have mats).
